Specific objectives for the GBP

1. Build capacity of female politicians and technocrats to independently carry out gender budget analysis.

2. To assist gender budget stakeholders with information on the gender impact of laws, policies and resources allocation.

3. To influence policy and budget making processes and outcomes from a gender perspective.

4. To monitor and make governments accountable to gender equality and equity objectives and goals.

5. To increase awareness about the importance of gender budgeting as a tool for achieving equitable distribution of resources.

6. To share experience on gender budgeting in East Africa region.

 

GBP Focus

The gender budget programme will mainly focus on areas that will:

1. Build the capacity of women legislators both at the national and local government levels to independently analyze budgets from a gender budget perspective.

2. Highlight the gendered impact of laws policies and budgets.

3. Monitor Government commitment to addressing gender and equity issues through resource allocation.

4. Increase awareness about the importance of GBP as a tool for achieving gender equality and equity.
