FOWODE has three core programme areas

The Gender Budget Programme (GBP)

Its Goal is to advocate for equitable distribution of resources between women and men, girls and boys and other marginalized groups.

The Women and Decision Making Programme(WDMP)

Its Goal is to increase the number, visibility and impact of women in policy making through Parliament, local government and public service.

The Leadership Building Programme(LBP)

Its Goal is to promote pro-women and pro-poor ideals through which alternative values, visions, and leaders can be nurtured and shaped in Uganda.
